Counseling and Consultation Services (CCS) offers a wide variety of mental health services. Counseling services for currently enrolled students include group therapy, individual therapy, relationship therapy (i.e., couples / roommates) and referrals to other off-campus services when appropriate. 

 

How to schedule an appointment:

 

Step 1. Determine your eligibility 

CCS clinical services are available to currently enrolled students. Faculty and staff are not eligible for counseling / therapy services but can learn more about mental health services for employees through IWU's Employee Assistance Program here. 

 

Step 2. Determine what type of appointment works best for you

CCS offers several ways you may see a counselor. CCS hours are 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:30pm.  There are several ways to schedule, reschedule, or cancel an appointment including calling us (309) 556-3052 (or 3052 from a campus phone), emailing us at counselingservices@iwu.edu, or visiting our office at Lower Level Magill Hall. 

• Intake Assessment - This is a 50-minute, one on one meeting with a Licensed Clinical Counselor aimed at better understanding your needs and options for mental health services (e.g., group therapy, individual therapy, medication management through Arnold Health Services, off-campus resources). Initial intake assessments can be scheduled through the in addition to calling, emailing, or visiting the office.

 

• Crisis / Urgent Appointments - "Crisis" referring to immediate, life-threatening situations and "urgent" referring to situations requiring prompt but not necessarily immediate attention. Crisis situations often involve thoughts of self-harm, harming others, or experiencing extreme psychological distress. Urgent situations, on the other hand, involve mental health symptoms that are severe or escalating but don't require immediate hospitalization or emergency department visits.  See our emergencies page for more information.
